This corner requires a special font for viewing Egyptian hieroglyphs. Download and install the font (NewGardiner) through this page. Make sure that hieroglyphs are displayed in the box above.

While researching on the braille systems for languages and scripts all over the world, I got interested in how brailles are for scripts not in use, such as Egyptian hieroglyphs. However, I could not find a site that explains the braille for hieroglyphs though I searched sites in Japanese, English, French, German, and Arabic.
Braille may be thought to be one only for the blind in the community where the language is used now, but they need the braille for the field for studying or researching it even if it is not their mother language. From this viewpoint, there are no differences between major languages, such as Japanese and English, and extinguished languages, such as ancient Egyptian.
Now I propose here a method for brailling hieroglyphs of which I got an inspiration. Note that braille signs are not assigned to all of the independent glyphs since hieroglyphs are a set of more than a thousand glyphs. I will retreat my proposal if it is found that an official braille system for hieroglyphs has been already established.
I strongly hope that this proposal will cause the appearance of challengers who try brailling other scripts not in use such as Tangut script, undeciphered scripts such as Rongorongo, and artificial scripts such as Voynich manuscript.
